Ukraine: Prospects for Peace and the Future of a Sovereign Nation

On Thursday, May 1, thanks to a collaboration between United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio (UUOhio) and the Monday Morning Minyan, the City Club of Cleveland hosted a noon forum featuring, Professor Eliot Cohen and Ambassador Paula Dobriansky who provided their perspectives on the current situation of the war against Ukraine and on the possible outcomes.

Guests were introduced by Dr. George Jaskiw, President of UUOhio and the four was moderated by Carina Van Vliet, Chief Executive Officer of the Cleveland Council on World Affairs. A question and answer period followed. Guests of UUOhio included Suzana Cesarek, the Counsul-General of Slovenia, Tobias Engel, representative from the offices of the Governor of Ohio, as well as Ray Paoletta, representative from the office of Congressman Max Miller. We also hosted State Representative Sean Brennan, mayor Anthony Biasiotta of Seven Hills, mayor Nicole Dailey Jones of North Olmsted, Cleveland City Council member Michael Polensek, City of Parma Council Member Monica Wilson, and Federal Judge Chris Boyko. Thomas Kacki, President of the Polish American Congress – Ohio Division, Dan Pearlman, Managing Director, Community Relations and External Affairs, Jewish Federation of Cleveland, Darren Hamm, Field Office Director, USCRI, Joe Cimperman, President Global Cleveland, Ralph Perk, President, American Nationalities Movement were also present.

United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio (UUOhio) thanks Senator Jon Husted for his condolences to our community in view of the slaughter of Ukrainian civilians on Palm Sunday and applaud him for hewing to the the truth and demand that the Russian Federation e punished for its terrorist activity. The security of the United States and the free world is only enhanced when we condemn genocide and support our allies.

The United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio express their gratitude to Governor DeWine for honoring the truth. The Russian Federation is an imperialistic, genocidal engine for the commission of war crimes. Its president is an indicted war criminal.

 


The United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio thank Parma Mayor Tim Degeeter and the City Council for marking the third anniversary of Russia’s illegal and unproved full scale invasion of Ukraine and for issuing proclamations supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territoral integrity.


United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio thank Congressman Max Miller for his geopolitical acumen and support of policies which are in the best interests of the United States.


We thank our steadfast allies in the American Jewish Committee (AJC) for unequivocally declaring what is the best interests of our United States! A strong, secure Ukraine brings strength and security to the Free World! Thank you AJC!

Ukraine Independence Day in Ohio August 24, 2024

House Bill 360 co-sponsored by Sean Brennan and Bill Seitz passed bipartisan 5/22/24 84 yeas (7 nays) to designate Aug 24th as Ukraine Independence Day in Ohio.

Status: Introduced in the Senate 5/28/24 and referred to Senate Government Oversight on 6/11/24.

United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio testified in support of the Bill along with the Ukrainian Cultural Association of Ohio.
